Costs

Flying is expensive. The mission of Purdue Pilots, Inc. is to make it affordable as possible.

  • To fly our aircraft, you must pay flying dues of $205/semester. Additionally, your first semester you must pay a $75 initiation fee. Dues cover fixed costs: insurance, hangar rent, etc…

    You may also join as a ground member for $10/semester, which gives you access to social events and ground school, but not the aircraft.

  • Our aircraft currently rent for $144/hour. This rate is based on hobbs hour and wet (fuel included).

    If you are training, dual instruction is $64/hour.

    Since the club is a nonprofit, we operate at break-even plus a small savings margin.

  • If you’re beginning flight training, there are other costs you should be aware of. These include a headset, iPad, EFB subscription, charts, and exam fees. Depending on what you decide to purchase, total will be around $2,000.

  • Aircraft Rental: 70 hours @ $144 = $10,080

    Instructor: 60 hours @ $64 = $3,840

    Dues: 2 semesters = $485

    Misc. Costs: $2000

    TOTAL: $16,405

    This is a rough estimate and will depend on how long training takes you.
